The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “The intimate community of life and love which constitutes the married state has been established by the Creator and endowed by him with its own proper laws. God himself is the author of marriage. The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. Marriage is not a purely human institution despite the many variations it may have undergone through the centuries in different cultures, social structures, and spiritual attitudes. These differences should not cause us to forget its common and permanent characteristics. Although the dignity of this institution is not transparent everywhere with the same clarity, some sense of the greatness of the matrimonial union exists in all cultures. The well-being of the individual person and of both human and Christian society is closely bound up with the healthy state of conjugal and family life.

One young coed chose a breakout session entitled chastity and holiness, and was disappointed to discover that the speaker said nothing about just what chaste behavior was.

She had been involved in some heavy foreplay but it took her a while to find someone in the Church to tell her that was seriously sinful. Can a Catholic Engage in Dating? It is a rather thorny subject to be sure, but the Church certainly has some very clear teaching on the matter and in particular the moral issues associated with certain common practices of young people today. What follows are a number of quotations from authoritative sources on the subject. If they meet at times, provided they do not remain alone too much and especially at night, and then enter the married state in a proper and legitimate manner, such acquaintances can not be found fault with.

But in many cases there is no prospect, or only a very remote one, that marriage will follow; at times there is not the slightest intention of marriage between the two that keep company. Or, when there is an engagement of marriage, they are constantly together; they are averse to the presence of other persons; they prefer to sit for hours in the dark; they wander about in secluded and out-of-the-way places; they are at every dance that is held for miles around.

Catholics also see marriage between Catholics as an essential way of passing on the Catholic faith from one generation to the next. America is, however, a society in which Catholics and people of other religious faiths encounter each other each day. Marriages between Catholics and other Christians are quite common.

The Church allows such marriages but asks the Catholic to promise that he or she will do all possible to continue in the practice of the Catholic faith and have any children baptized and raised as Catholics. If the Catholic Church allows the wedding of Catholics and other Christians, it accepts the reality that Catholics and other Christians in a society such as ours will meet and sometimes want to date.

This deception is far from the truth — what the Catholic Church actually teaches is how to truly love to the fullest. Before you click out let me explain.

We wait not because sex is bad but because it is a great gift. God wants humanity to be able to share in His creative power and to have the joy that comes with creating. Sex without the promise before God to be with this person for the rest of your life is abusing a great gift. If you keep walking in the dark area, you eventually will take a step that leads to sin without even seeing it. Sin can go beyond pre-marital sex. Instead of a simple expression of love this could be through kissing or even any type of physical contact. You are given the chance to die for them every time you have those feelings of wanting pleasure through dying onto yourself, saying you will wait until a covenant before God.

You show true love by dying for them, not acting out those temptations. Our hormones are raging and to fight makes it unhealthy!
